Book Review: The NIV Color Code Bible

IMG_9501

The NIV Color Code Bible by Tommy Nelson is intended for the child who is trying to transition between a kid type of Bible and an adult version Bible.  The main feature is that the publishers have already gone through and highlighted many of the main and popular verses in colors based on categories.  The categories are then  listed at the bottom of each page for easy reference.

When thinking about this Bible I get some mixed feelings.  I do love how the verses are highlighted.  It makes for a pretty inside and verses that are easy to reference.  However, it takes away from the Bible scholar being able to highlight the Bible themselves- a process that makes Bible reading fun and personal. Also, the colors used in the highlighting are sort of dull- not very bold colors.

This Bible is a bit unique in that you usually can’t find Bibles with the verses prehighlighted, especially for this age level of kids.  I do like that the book is not very big and bulky, but a great size for those with somewhat smaller hands to hold and manage. The fact it is in the NIV version is also a bonus!

I have received this Bible from Book Look Bloggers in exchange for an honest review and I give the NIV Color Bible 4.5 stars out of 5.
