Truths Every Girl Should Know Series- #3: You Are Important

Dear young girl:

In life it doesn’t matter what you do or how you act- people will get jealous of you and try to make you feel like you are not important.  You could be the smartest person in the world and there will be someone out there who will try to make you feel dumb.  You could be the nicest person- and someone will try to make you feel mean.  People will try to make you feel like your role in the world is dumb- whether you are a doctor, teacher, mom, missionary, musician, or any other role.

Why?  Because Satan wants you you to fail.  He wants you to feel worthless.  He wants you to think you and what you do isn’t important.

Satan will also try to put people in your path who will not listen to you just because you are young, because you are a child.

Do you want to know the truth of it all?

You are important whether you are young or old.  You are important whether you are a dentist or an artist, whether you are a mom who stays at home or a mom who works.

What if you are a drug dealer, or an alcoholic who just sits at home? These are not wise decisions, but God would still love you because remember what I wrote before about the truth of love.

As long as you are seeking in prayer what God wants you to do- what you do in life is important.  (Dealing drugs and sitting at home drinking is not God’s will for anyone, to be clear).

This Bible verse is my favorite verse in regards to your importance:

1 Timothy 4:12 – “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

I love this Bible verse because it pretty much covers all the qualities of important people.

You see, you don’t have to have a lot of money, an influential job or nice clothes to be important.  You don’t have to be a certain age either.

However, if you speak truths, if you mind your manners, if you live a longing life, if you have faith in God, and if you strive to keep yourself pure-then you are indeed important regardless of how old you are.

Thid is such a great calling for Christians to live, isn’t it?  It is exciting, because by working towards these kind of qualities, we can have an awesome impact on the world and the people in it.  We can have a positive influence on others.

So, work hard to be this kind of person that is described in 1 Timothy. And, if anyone tries to make you feel like you aren’t important- you remind yourself of the truth.  God made you important.  Make sure to hold onto truths.

Do you remember the truths we talked about so far?

1) You are beautiful.

2) You are loved.

3) You are important.

Dear God,

I thank you for the girl reading this. I thank you that she will strive to be of good character, strong in her faith. I thank you that she is indeed important.

I pray that this girl will remember she is important,  especially during times when the enemy tries to attack her and convince her that she’s not. I thank you that you have made her beautiful inside and out, that you love her immensely, that she is such an awesome blessing.

I pray that she realizes and understands these truths about herself- and that these truths will be knit across her heart and imprinted in her mind. As she lives life with these truths, help her to also understand what it means to be humble- to not see herself as better than others but open her eyes to how much you love others.

I thank you Lord that you are a God of truth.  I thank you for the Bible because it reminds us of those truths.  You are a great God.  I love you.
