Stability in our Complex World

Our world is a complex one.

In our upcoming election there are two main candidates that don’t really possess any great traits  Or, do they? Politics tend to not portray  an accurate portrait of anyone.  Those who are really good people of great quality and character can hold a misconstrued label through politics- aka gossip in my book.  Others may look like great leaders but underneath are conniving and cunning.

There is the great abortion debate.  The people who are crying that aborting babies is wrong are the same people that pull life support on dying elders or very ill individuals.

There is the issue of immigrants and terrorists.  Not all immigrants are terrorists.  But there needs to be a way to figure this out and protect Americans from terrorists.  How complex this is, seeing how there are even American citizens who pull terrorist acts.

Great debates fill up social media.  People take sides.  People don’t take sides.  Fights are held.  Hands are thrown up in disgust or from not knowing how to vote.  People are filled with anxiety over how our nation’s future may or may not be. They lay awake at night wondering what their children or grandchildren may or may not face in the future.

What will happen?  What is really right? What is really just?

Regardless  of who “leads” our country, God is still in charge. He is still in control.  He still has events all planned out.

We need to relax.

We need to slow down the pace of our lives and reflect.

Although in Lamentations it is written about God’s anger and how even mothers kill and eat their children, it is also written:

” The faithful love of the Lord never ends!

His mercies never cease…..

The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.  So it is good to wait quietly…and it is good to submit at an early age to the yoke of disciple…..

Let them sit alone in silence beneath God’s demands….

Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love.  For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.

If people crush underfoot all the prisoners of the land, if they deprive others of their rights in defiance of the Most High, if they twist justice in the courts- doesn’t the Lord see all these things?

Who can command things to happen without the Lord’s permission?”

These are parts pulled from Lamentations 3.  Our judicial system may be corrupt, our politics and government may be twisted, our future may seem unknown, but please remember that God sees it all.

We need to slow down each day and let God lead.  We need to not push to get ahead of shim because it won’t happen anyways.  Rest. Reflect. Pray.

For there, peace is found.
