I am enjoying the Read and Share – Look, I’m Reading! Bible Storybook because it is age appropriate for many reading levels:
For the infant and toddler level there are vivid and colorful illustrations to look at.
For those in prekindergarten or kingergarten (the children who are super eager to start reading) there are little pictures at the top of each story which have written under them what the picture is. Then, in the script of the story the small pictures are substituted in place of the word. For example, there may be a photo of a bear face at the top of the page, with the word “bear” written under it. Then, in the story, wherever the word “bear” is supposed to be read, the picture of a bear is placed in the script. An adult can then read the stories to such young children and whenever the photo of the bear is seen, the children can then read “bear.” Such children will then be able to learn the word “bear.”
For more advanced young readers there is the opportunity to learn words either one at a time, or to read out loud paragraphs.
The book is very thick. It holds many stories – and I like that the stories are short. They are just the perfect length for a young reader’s attention span. Each story has a vivid full page illustration with it. It also has the related Bible chapter written in the illustration in case the reader would like to look up and read more about each story.
I feel this is a great aid in helping children to learn.
