Proverbs 27:19 writes, “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”
The reflection of my husband’s heart is evident in our children.
My husband has always been one to look out for others- to make sure they are taken care of. This goes as simple as opening the doors for others to as complex as sitting down to take the time to talk through/mentor another with something that person is struggling with.
I see this reflection in my children as my son insists on carrying my plants for me across my deck, insisting that he is stronger than me, to let him take care of me. I see this reflection when my son opens doors of the house, a restaurant, a vehicle for his siblings, his mother, for strangers.
When my daughter encourages me to keep talking to God, and then prays mighty prayers over me- I see my husband’s heart.
When he eats very little at dinner and pretends he isn’t hungry…. just so that I have enough to eat- I see my husband’s heart.
When I see my children practice patience, kindness, love, and generosity, husband I see your heart.
You have a heart of gold, husband. It is reflected all around you. I thank you for your heart, and for that I thank God too.
