We are writing this post to try to shed some light to others regarding our son Jonathan and what we have been dealing with regarding skin the past 6 months.
Like our other son, Jonathan has been suffering from eczema and allergies. While we repeatedly recieve insensitive comments about it, I would like to list everything we have tried to help him so that people might be a bit more understanding:
We have tried:
*numerous creams and salves
*wet wrap therapy
*having scent and dye free soaps and detergents in home
*100 percent cotton clothes
* holding him 24/7 just so he doesn’t scratch.
* steroid cream
*vit a and e drops
*therapeutic dermasilk clothing
*therapeutic dermasilk face mask special ordered from the uk
*bathing frequencies from once a week to every day
While we are pretty sure the cause of his eczema is a reaction to Erin’s breastmilk, Erin has tried the following to correct this:
* changing diet to cut out all the top 8 allergens as well as citrus: egg, dairy, nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, corn, gluten, sugar
* tried to balance ph of milk
While we know it is a reaction to Erins milk, whether it be the foods crossing into it or hormones etc, we have attempted to get him to take a bottle. He still refuses. We have tried:
* numerous kinds and types of bottles
* different types of formulas
*other women’s breastmilk
*supplemental nursing systems
* baby juice
* other women nursing him
* different temperatures of the bottle
* giving him a bottle while he is awake, asleep, in different positions.
We know ultimately it is an issue of the gut and weak immune systems which we are working on healing. Erin carries a lot of weight on her shoulders as she sees her milk has this effect on her child, yet Jonathan won’t take anything else. It is difficult for her to hear comments about her milk being poisonous or questioning about her weight.
We have done everything we can think of to help our child. Maybe we are missing something. If you have a suggestion please let us know. In the meantime we appreciate continued support and prayers.
