Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard this growing up. It’s the surefire way to save the planet, or at least make it better. What about saving ourselves? Well, I came up with my own set of “re” word that will at least help us stay on track with God.

Hebrews 12:2 tells us to “fix our eyes on Jesus” I find it so easy sometimes to focus on career, family, food, work, etc. that my focus on Jesus begins to dwindle. I work a job where there are weeks I have to be gone 70+ hours. That makes the little time I have with my family all the more valuable, but it should also make my time with God all the more valuable too. It’s easy to justify not spending time with God when we look at our lives this way. Refocus your eyes on Jesus and make Him your top priority. Everything else will fall into place.

What’s the easiet way to be refreshed? My personal belief is to spend more quality time with the Lord. However, since I’m assuming here we’ve refocused our eyes on Jesus and time spent with God is going to improve anyway, I’m going to give you another way. Bless someone. It’s that simple. Proverbs 11:25 says that a generous person will prosper and whoever refreshes others will also be refreshed. Have you ever heard of someone doing a short terms mission trip or an outreach of some kind saying that they went in to bless someone, but instead came out being more blessed than they could’ve imagined? That’s what happens when you invest in people. So without further ado, go bless someone.

Ever liked a movie so much you called your rental place up and renewed it? Maybe not so much anymore with Netflix and other movie streaming things available, but back in the day when Blockbuster ruled the roost of movies rentals, it happened. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Change the way you think. Instead of looking to life for answers, look to the Author of Life. Ask Him to renew your mind. When our mindset becomes that of Christ, a transformation takes place in our lives that makes a difference.

Finally- RESTORE:

2 Corinthians 13:11 tells us to strive for full restoration. Now that we’ve refocused, refreshed, and begun to renew our mind, it’s time to restore our temple- our body. The second part of the verse says to encourage one another, be of one mind, and live in peace. Restore yourselves by being at peace with God. Ironically this goes hand in hand with renewing our mind. Now that we’re on the right track, it’s time to allow God to restore us.

Spend considerable time with God today. Refocus your energies and thoughts. Refresh yourself in His presence. Renew your mind so you may be transformed. Restore your hearts and be filled with His spirit.

Be blessed. Be a blessing.
