Hatred and Gratitude

“Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

There are very few things in life that I have a passionate hatred for.  One of them is infantile eczema.  After going through an extreme case of it with 2 separate children, I could write a large list of reasons as to why and how this illness causes sheer misery for not only the baby but for those who are caring for him or her.

I could write that list….

but…

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says to give thanks in ALL circumstances.

Infantile eczema is a cruddy cruddy circumstance….but God says to be thankful during it.

What am I thankful for?  I am thankful for all the lessons I have learned while dealing with this:

*Strength
*A new level of multitasking that includes holding down a baby with one hand so he doesn’t tear his face apart while changing another’s poopy diaper with the other hand.
*Patience
*Forgiveness
*Love
*What really is important
*Grace
*Grace
*GRACE
*Priorities
*Hope
*Persistence
*Did I mention strength?
*Strength
*Oh yeah….STRENGTH.

I am sure there is probably a situation you are dealing with that might seem cruddy.  God says to be thankful despite the circumstance.  I challenge you to find reasons to be thankful in the situation today!

Blessings, Erin
