1Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray continuously.”
When I was a little girl some of my nicknames were “motor-mouth” and “a mouth on legs”. Apparently I talked a lot. Then, in High School and College I was told at least a few times a week, “Erin, You’re not listening!!”
Now I have a little girl who likes to talk a mile a minute and also doesn’t listen very well because she very rarely stops talking to take the time to listen. She is my little mini-me.
First Thessalonians says to pray continuously. At first I used to think this meant always talking to God. I of course forgot about the listening part. Prayer is dialogue between you and God; dialogue consists of talking AND listening. When you are praying are you taking the moment to stop talking and listen to what God has to say to you?
Are you allowing for those moments to happen where God can speak to you? Where you can hear Him clearly? Do you need to turn off your phone, your iPad, your tv? Do you need to get out into nature? Do you need to get into the Word? How do you hear from God? Are you listening?
